SUMMARY:Gestalt Art Therapy: Contributions to the practice of Gestalt therapists
DESCRIPTION:SELMA CIORNAI \nIn this opportunity I will present the phenomenological and existential foundations of Gestalt Art Therapy\, illustrating how they can be applied in experiments suggested by Gestalt therapists\, with regard to the way of processing the visual and symbolic language of our clients. I will also address its relationship with the theory of the self\, and will bring examples. \nPresenter Bio \nSELMA CIORNAI . Gestalt therapist graduated in 1980 from the San Francisco Gestalt Institute (USA)\, Doctor in Clinical Psychology. from Saybrook Institute USA\, Master of Arts in Art Therapy from California State University and Bachelor of Arts in Humanities: Sociology\, Anthropology and Creative Arts from the University of Haifa\, Israel. A pioneer of the Gestalt Approach in Art Therapy in Brazil\, she is the coordinator of a training program in Gestalt Art Therapy in SP and has been a teacher of Gestalt therapy trainings in several institutes in Brazil since 1984. An invited professional in countries in Latin America and Europe\, she is the author of books and texts published in national and international journals on Gestalt therapy and Art Therapy such as The Gestalt Journal\, Gestalt Review etc.\, having recently contributed with 2 chapters to “The Willey Handbook of Art Therapy”. Invited presentor at several conferences in Brazil\, USA and Latin American \, in 1999 she represented Latin America at the Congress “Voices from 3 Continents” of the AAGT (Association for the Advancement of Gestalt Therapy). \nlanguage \nBrasil- English \n
